If you are using window vista / windows 7, email me the latest file from c:\users\[your name]\Application Data\Powometer\Debug

If you are using windows XP, the file should be in c:\documents and settings\[your name]\application data\Powometer\Debug

email me the latest file to crispin@myenergyusage.org and I'll have a look.

Yes, it does. I tend to have Powometer and Wattson connected 24/7, but it never survives for more than a couple of days.

Hi,

Sometimes Wattson does not reply with a valid message when polled for current power usage. In certain cases I do not handle the blank response properly and you see this error.

Does it happen often or not?

Hi Ray,

I never got around to doing anything more on the solar side of Wattson so to be honest, I doubt you can show both graphs.
I never really looked into how Wattson deals with the solar input. Might get round to it one day though (when I find 27 hours in a day:S)

Hi, have just found your wonderful software after finding some limitations with the Holmes software. I have a grid tie solar power system and at the moment I monitor the solar output on the Wattson display and the export to the grid on Powometer. Is it possible to have two sets of data on the one graph (that is, the generated solar and the exported power)? I cannot see anywhere in the options that allow me to graph generated power.

Neither seem to work quite right the code I have is below but it's not doing what it says on the tin ;)

IT WORKS ! :-)

It was deleteing Settings.xml in the folder "C:\Program Files\Powometer" that did it

(i didnt need to run the .msi)

Did you try and use the move file function in the application? It appears to be trying to move the data file back to the default location from the default location. A bit odd.

In the folder "C:\Program Files\Powometer" there should be a file called Settings.xml. Delete it and try again?
Also, would like to try and reinstall the data drivers. There may have been a problem there.

download from http://www.myenergyusage.org/bin/SSCERuntime-ENU-x86.msi Save to your desktop and run it. It will probably prompt you to do a repair.

Here is a version which should help: http://www.myenergyusage.org/bin/Powometer.0.0.6.36749.exe

Download the above exe and save it to your desktop.
Open up Windows File Explorer again and navigate to c:\program files\powometer.
Delete the file powometer.exe and copy the one from your desktop into the folder.
Try running Powometer again.

If there is an error, email me a screen shot of the error and the debug file with today's date.

I did that, but it didnt make a difference.
I tried running setup.exe again and doing a repair - no differance
I uninstalled and then reinstalled - but still the same error ....
Could not find file 'C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Powometer\Data\Powometer.sdf
Should Powometer.sdf be there or is it created when the program runs?

hmmm. Is there a file in the Data directory called Powometer.sdf?

Try this:
on the powometer folder, right click and click on properties.
click on the Security tab
click on Add
in the third box type Everyone
click on the Check Names button. It should underline the name.
Click ok.
no click on the tickbox for Full Control and Allow.
Click ok.

Try running it now?

cool. Now one level up (i.e. in the Powometer folder) create a folder called Debug.
You should now be able to run powometer. There is a problem sometimes with creating these folders during the install. I'll fix it on the next release.

Let me know if the above works now.

It does need the quotes. orginaly it said location unavailable but i had manualy created the "data" dir. So now it just brings up an empty folder...

ok, if you put this path into your Run box (Click on Start > Run) "c:\documents and settings\mike\application data\powometer\data\" without the quotes and click ok. What happens?

If there is an error, try "c:\documents and settings\mike\application data\powometer\"

yes i ran setup (not the msi). It put .net on (i think) then did a reboot and then auto installed powometer.

The wi-eye is still work in progress I'm afraid. I will speak to the chaps from eco-eye next week and give an update. There is another user, Stuart, who is trying to get it working on Linux. I'll find out from him how his is going. If he gets it right, and I am sure he will, it will talk to the MyEnergy website where you will be able to view history etc. see www.linux-depot.com for more info as well as the blog powometer.blogspot.com
